Teachers' conceptions and knowledge affect teaching practice and this, in turn, influences preschool children's learning development achievements. The objective of the article was to describe teachers' work, roles and responsibilities in preschool learning. A bibliographic review of documentary type was carried out where it is oriented from a qualitative methodology to generate processes of understanding of the reality, from the voices of the actors, specifically preschool teachers. The data collection technique uses electronic resources, searching in Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, among others. It is concluded that early education is a fundamental educational level for the full progress of the human being, since it is at this stage of life that the foundations of development are structured and the most important cognitive acquisitions take place; however, the relevance of this level for a large majority does not cease to be a space for the care and custody of children under six years of age.
