Social-emotional education is an essential component of holistic development, given its influence on how students recognize and regulate their emotions, build interpersonal relationships, and cope with academic demands. This article aimed to analyze the relationship between social-emotional education, school coexistence, well-being, and academic performance, with a particular focus on emotional regulation, empathy, and social skills. A qualitative, documentary study with a descriptive-analytical scope was conducted, based on a review of 20 recent scientific studies. The results demonstrate that strengthening social-emotional competencies is linked to improved conflict management, higher-quality interactions, a positive perception of the school climate, student well-being, and engagement with learning. Furthermore, social-emotional interventions show positive effects on academic performance, although these are influenced by personal, pedagogical, and institutional factors. The study concludes that systematically incorporating these competencies can help create educational environments that are safer, more inclusive, and conducive to students' holistic development.
