Under the premise that the National Curriculum is the guiding axis in the curricular planning process, a research was carried out at the Santa Mariana de Jesús - Guaranda Educational Unit, a private institution that has the quality of the teachers who teach the different academic subjects as its core axis. However, despite the efforts of its leaders, a worrying lack of knowledge has been evidenced regarding the use, handling and application of the Curriculum Update and Strengthening. The causes of this problem lie in a high turnover rate of teaching staff, due to contracts or appointments provided by the Ministry of Education, which are of interest to teachers. This leads them to leave the educational unit for economic progress. Consequently, professionals who do not have knowledge in pedagogy are hired. In this study, the contribution of knowledge of the National Curriculum to the development of planning skills was evaluated through the preparation of a research report by teachers from elementary, middle, upper and high school levels at the aforementioned Educational Unit. Likewise, a bibliographic exploration was carried out in different reliable sources such as articles, journals, theses, and official sources that support and strengthen the same framework. The descriptive method was applied by using a Google Forms survey to 40 colleagues from elementary to third year of high school levels in order to collect, organize and interpret statistical data. The statistical treatment was a Pearson correlation to measure the Independent variable: Knowledge of the National Curriculum and Dependent variable: Development of skills of teachers from elementary, middle, upper and high school levels. It is essential for educational leaders to review and analyze the curricular scope to respond to the needs of the educational work and to guarantee the inclusion of the national curriculum, with the aim of achieving high standards of educational quality.
