Abstract: Introduction: Family functionality refers to the relationship that exists between each of its members within the usual nucleus, it implies adequate communication to carry out the family roles that each one must fulfill for optimal functioning. The main objective of the research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Family Functionality Scale (FF SIL) in a sample of 328 Ecuadorian adolescents.
Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of the FF-SIL family functionality questionnaire in adolescents.
Methods: The method used was quantitative instrumental with a non-experimental design with a cross-sectional design.
Results:The results showed that the FF-SIL presents adequate levels of internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.847 for the total scale and after the AFE, the presence of a single factor of the family functionality scale was identified with acceptable KMO values of 0.92 and Bartlett's test of sphericity (X2) of 1077 with a significance level of p<0.001. In addition, the CFA yielded adequate fit indices confirming the unifactorial structure (X2= 134, gL= 77 and p<0.001; CFI= 0.944, TLI= 0.934, SRMR= 0.0415, RMSEA= 0.0473 ).
Conclusions: As a conclusion we have that the FF SIL family functionality scale is shown to be useful in Ecuadorian adolescents with adequate psychometric properties reflected in the Cronbach's alpha of 0.84 for the total scale, confirming that it is a reliable tool for the measurement of the variable in different contexts and with different age range, however, it is important to emphasize that it is a unifactorial model.
