Afrontamiento al estrés académico y su relación con la impulsividad en adolescentes.

Abstract: Academic stress has been considered one of the main psychological health problems worldwide in adolescents and young adults. Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between coping with academic stress and impulsivity in a sample of 115 adolescents (57% female and 33% male). Method: The research had a quantitative approach, in turn, a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a correlational scope. The scale of Coping with Academic Stress (a-cea), by Dr. Ramón Cabanach (2008), Argentine version by Godino, 2016 and the Barrat Impulsivity Scale (BIS 11) by Dr. Ernest Barrat (1959), Chilean adaptation by Salvo & Castro in the year, 2013 were used. Results: As a result, a slight negative correlation was found between certain factors of the variables studied. Similarly, a mean of 70.1 was identified in the total coping and a score of 55.4 in the total impulsivity of the participants. Likewise, in the comparison of means by dimensions of impulsivity according to gender, no significant differences were found between men and women. Conclusions: In conclusion, adequate coping with academic stress is a protective factor against the presence of impulsivity in adolescents; that is, the greater the coping capacity, the lower the levels of impulsivity.
